*A hit refers to every call to the server that a web page makes for some resource. For example, a single web page might have 30 graphics. When that page is accessed by a visitor, the server logs will record a hit as it loads each graphic, logging 30 hits for that single visit. This is the difference between unique visitors, and hits.
